Ithaca Gunsmith?

2056 9
A member of our club has a mint Ithaca 4E that his father gave him many years ago. He brings out of the safe and shoots it a few times a year primarily for nostalga. About a year ago, something in the cocking mechanism broke. He took it to a local smith and it lasted about 10 shots and broke again. He took it to another smith with and came up with similar results.

He does not want to make it his main trap gun but would like to have it properly repaired and functional. Any recommendations on a good Gunsmith to repair the 4E would be appreciated.

Gunther Pfrommer, 2954 Hopkins Rd. Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Phone 540-484-5555. Restored a Flues that has been in the family for 60 years. Recommended by Walt Synder who is quite an authority on Ithaca's.

Pfrommer or Diamond. Their reputations were built, in large part, on Ithacas. Neither will have to look at a disassembly diagram, which is nice if you value the gun. Too, it sounds as if the gun in question might be a Flues model, in which case you really need someone familiar with the problem.
