We have an Ithaca Century Trap SBT 12 ga. on our high school team. It is a darling trap gun and seems tight and in perfect working order. That is EXCEPT that it has started to pop open on shooting. Seems like about every other shot on firing it the top lever will pop to the right and the barrels will start to rise on the face of the receiver (pop open just a crack).
The gun seems clean and I can see no obvious wear or damage on simple takedown.
What we need is to first diagnose the problem, then secondly to find possible sources of parts.
Thank you.

The surfaces that engage with the locking plate have worn - my Century does the same thing. A new locking plate and/or the surface it engages will need to be fitted.
