they had deerslayer barrels from the start the older guns under one million s/n were better than after one million as they were made in japan and had a few problems before they started making them in ithaca again barrel is 20 inch with rifled sights and should fit ok as my gun is older than yours $125 plus shipping has the orginal red front sight barrel is in very good shape

My model 37 was made before deerslayer barrels were manufactured. I worked at Ithaca gun in the 60's until 1970 and don't recall 37 barrels ever being made in Japan.
