I shipped a couple of Shooting Shirts and a Cap to a Gentleman in the Philippines a few weeks back. Must be something going on over there.

When I was there while in the Navy there was plenty of shooting----We were told to keep our heads down----Just saying----They didn't like us much back then-----SJB

Yes...bunker trap and skeet and mostly sporting clays set up between hills and mountains. No American trap though. No guns for rent. Ammo available from gun stores. You can do "google" search and you will see sporting clay set like a resort.

Nothing sweeter than leaving Subic crossing Shit River and getting into all that LBFM honey pots. I can remember it like it was yesterday.. : )

Ponytail,

You are so right!! It's been over 40 years and I can still smell that stench walking over the bridge into Olongapo (sp) I also remember eyeing this one girl until I saw her nibbling a un-hatched duck out of an egg. Barf. Oh, the stories I shouldn't describe on this board!!!

You can tell people about Olongopo, you can try to describe it but you can't do it justice unless you were their. It was truly a mans heaven! : )

I was AF - Clark AFB - Angeles City right outside the gate. You guys got me thinking, reminiscing, just had to look it up. Bar fines used to be $12, don't know what they are now but the LBFMs are still there. Like Rick said - you can tell people about it (some, you'd better not) but if you haven't been there you just have no idea: Here's a recent pic from one of the clubs.

Edited - internet search says bar fine is now 1,000 PHP ($24.59)

When I went active in 77 I heard all the stories about the PI. They were so compelling, but seemed like typical macho lies.

The first time I pulled into the PI and crossed the river into Olongapo, I knew every one of those sea stories were completely true.

While in the PI I never, ever thought once about shooting clays--sorry.

As for the original question...

Have just been in contact with a friend who is the president of an international electronics company headquartered in the Philippines. He lives in the greater Manila area. He also has homes here in the United States and has shot American-style trap here.

He says there is American-style trap shooting in the Philippines and promises me on my next trip that he will arrange a weekend of trap shooting using any German or Italian made trap gun I wish.

On previous trips he has arranged complete IPSC pistol competitions.

So, yes, there is trap shooting in the Philippines.

It sounds like the single mans paradise, Doc. Go for it. It sounds like there are all kinds of "shooting" opportunites available. Man I love petite women. Bill

Bill, it is a single mans paradise and a very dangerous place for even the most married married men. When a temptation paradise was built their it is in one country but even more one city!
