Is a $20k gun really THAT much better than a $3k gun?

We all like to have nice things in life, and I have my fair share of firearms but my whole arsenal cost less than most of the high end O/Us.

So what exactly are you paying for with a Koler, Perazzi, or Krieghoff? I certainly love to window shop but I'd be scared to death to take it out of the case if I spent that much on a shotgun.

Thanks

The answer to your title question is no. A $3,000 gun with the adjustable features you need to get an acceptable gun fit a for a consistent mount and your preferred POI will post the same scores as a $20,000 gun.

Comparisons to car and boats is just nonsense in regards to that. They have inherent performance variables. A gun is like a hammer whether it's a $5.00 hammer or a $35.00 hammer you still have to hit the nail.

Now beauty, quality of materials, durability, prestige/satifaction of ownership, etc. are different discussions and aren't what you asked about in you title but can be answered to the different question you posed in your post.

There’s a difference. How much you pay for that difference? That’s certainly debatable. Many, clearly, find paying that difference palatable. Beyond the base grade, obviously, it’s all aesthetics. Some people, myself included, like pretty things. Functional art.

@JBrooks ...exactly. You can't compare a machine with thousands of moving parts to a shotgun with about 12 moving parts, none of which are moving thousands of times an hour.

At the risk of upsetting certain elements on here, my Turkish Yildiz (admittedly more than 3k USD, but less than that down here) clocked up 50 000 shots recently. It has got me 2 state championships, an Australian team and not a single FTF or other problem, apart from a poorly applied finish (rectified by me) and a rubbish case (rectified by Negrini).

Old guy down here recently went from a Miroku to a P. His scores have decreased, although as he says "I look better when I miss..."

I still lust after other guns, but mostly old model Browning Broadways or English SxS.....

I shot the wheels off a Bt99 plus and looked good doing it. Then I became a (Legend in my own mind) and said I need a KX6S. Now people think I stole off the rack LOL. I am lucky enough to be able to do it thanks to a very understanding wife!

I'd have to agree here. Many of us I'm sure have watched guysnuse an ol 870 and keep right up with the 5k+$ gun users. It all about what fits good and feels right and what works for the shooter

Only negative thing about a 20,000 dollar gun is it being sold for 500 dollars by your survivors after you die, but then you won’t care.
My biggest fear is that my wife will sell my gun and fly rods for what I said I paid for them. :ROFLMAO:

You have to shoot them to tell the differences. That's if you can tell.
If you can't feel the differences, you're lucky, stay with the cheaper one.

You might break just as many with a cheaper gun, but will you for as long?

A guy swinging a hammer every day is without a doubt swinging a $35 hammer, but your point is well understood.

Think prestige, the envy of other shooters and lots of chicks.
Don't even think that. Think 2,000,000 rounds with a gun you love to shoot and will for the next 20 years. And after all that shooting, you will be able to sell it for what you paid for it if you take care of it.

There's alot of AA27AA shooters out there. Some probably got there with a fairly inexpensive gun. Some probably did it with very expensive guns. It only matters to the one shooting it.

This is a question, if asked, cannot be answered or explained.
5 dollar hammer,35 dollar hammer? my last one cost more than a 100.00 and is worth every penny, the same is true with shot guns, several years ago my lovely wife saw me looking at a Krieghoff I shot it and was taking it back to the dealer to return it. My bride said do you like it my answer was yes but I don't want to spend the money, When we got there I was about to hand over the gun and she got out her check book , I AM KEEPING BOTH OF THEM!!

How long you talkin? 25 years? That's a long time.

Even the $3000 browning or beretta are supposed to last a lifetime, aren't they? At the $3000 level, do the guns really wear out to the point where they must be replaced?

If you can’t tell the difference, don’t spend the money. Just like Harbor Freight tools.

There's a Trap Family in South Dakota that might have that answer.
