We received word today that longtime Iowa shooter, Scooter Doerres passed away today, April 4, very unexpectedly.

Our deepest condolences go out to Bobby, Lynn and family for their loss. We will post any other information as soon as it is available.

Please keep Bobby and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Memorial Services for Robert "Scooter" Doerres will be held on Saturday April 13th at 10:30am at the Musserville United Methodist Church 1001 Oregon St. Muscatine, Iowa There will be a luncheon following the services at the church. One of my many memories of Scooter is his shooting attire. White pants and shirt. Thoughts go out to the entire family. I knew the man for 40 years and he was never at a loss to have something to talk about with me. He is missed.

BeerKing, thanks for sharing. We never got a chance to meet him but his son Bobby is a great friend. Bobby does so much to help kids anywhere/everywhere. The Muscatine Club has some fine young shooters and Bobby is one of the key reasons why.

I did not personally know this shooter or his family but from the kind words of others. I can tell he was a great friend to many and will be deeply missed. Rest assured that his shooting career has only just begun.

SD Trap Family, I have known the family since the 70's. I and Bobby have worked together at some different projects with the ISTA and work with him on hosting shoots at our gun club in Cedar Rapids for the AIM program. was supposed to shoot some geese wtih him last coupla years but other issues have got in the way. He and Mick F. are doing a fantastic job with the kids and I applaud them for that. I have seen those 2 guys not shoot so as to help a youngster shoot.
