A fellow from the internet wants to sell a couple of older fixed-choked Browning BT-99 barrels.

I have a couple of older BT-99 shotguns which are likely from the same era as his barrels.

What is the likelihood that the barrels will work with my gun...

Without any gunsmithing ?

With gunsmithing the barrel but not modifying my frame or forend ?

I have 1969 & 1970 model years BT-99's. Nothing fits on the other gun.

I shoot the '69 better so I asked Doug Braker (gunsmith in Minnesota)if he could make the '70 barrel fit the '69 frame and forend. He said the older the BT-99 the harder it was to do, and he wouldn't quote anything until he saw both guns.

I kind of got a between the lines read of he could do it, but you probably won't like the bill.

I have tried several different BT-99 barrels on several different BT-99s and none have been interchangeable.

I have 2 Browning 625s and the barrels interchange beautifully.

What's wrong with the barrels you have now? If you want different chokes, Carlson's choke installation offers 3 extended chokes, and 2 wrenches for $145. A lot cheaper than having barrels fitted.

Nothing wrong with my current barrels.

Guess it's just an interesting idea to me.
