Representative Keith Ellison is someone you’re going to get to know. Among other things he’s a current Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).
The CPC has 72 members. All but one is a dim member of the U.S. House of Representatives. The exception is Bernie Sanders. Sanders is a senator, a founding member of the CPC and a self-described socialist. OTOH, they’re all socialists - without exception.
Here are a few numbers…
One of every five people in the U.S. House of Representatives is a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus. Looking at just the 188 House dims, four of ten (40%) are CPC members. However, even those numbers tend to understate the CPC’s influence. For example, Minority Leader Pelosi (aka Possum Face) is a former member of the group and a staunch ideological soulmate of theirs.
Ellison is also a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. His core values and legislative priorities are pretty typical of the CBC as well as the CPC.
Broadway john, Ellison won’t cause a single dim to switch sides. He may be a rotten apple but dims love Ellison and consider him a near perfect choice to lead the DNC going forward.
FWIW, New York Senator (and perennial turd) Chuck Schumer will be the top dim in the senate starting in January when Harry Reid retires. Schumer loves Ellison too.
The bottom line?? There’s a VERY good chance Ellison will be chosen to lead and rally a dim party that’s in total disarray following Trump’s victory.

I just read Sanders has also endorsed Ellison's bid to lead the DNC. That will add most of the looney left Sanders supporters to Ellison's camp. As an aside, does anyone else find it telling that a self avowed socialist nearly captured the dim presidential nomination? Isn't it interesting that he continues to be a major influence on a party he will not formally join? .
