I haven't been on the site for some time. I do see that the collective intelligence is still here.

I just picked up a beautiful Beretta 680 single barrel, with a trigger work and an adjustable comb at a very attractive price.

I also want a doubles gun.

What are the thoughts on picking up an o/u barrel set. They seen to run about $1200.00 plus gunsmithing.

I'm thinking that for not much more I could pick up a nice used browning, maybe even a new one. Maybe even a Tristar O/U

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

A set of barrels for a 680 should be 600-700 dollars plus fitting.
I shot a combo for years and liked it.

Its All good
I shoot a combo now, and a 680 combo for years. Very nice guns, but I don't think combos are better than two guns. I almost think an event specific piece is the way to go.

I prefer two different guns as my doubles gun is set up different I have a 682 combo That I just can't convince myself to sell Berettas are a good solid gun. The plus side of a combo is you need only one case. One gun can do it all. If you like the feel of the 680 then go for the other barrel. A fellow shooter bought a 682 o/u for 1500.00
