Some times the load has to do with the bulk of the powder being used. Some times the load has to do with the skirt on the wad being a little larger than they used to be.

Now if your loading Rem. hulls and figure 8's I presume your dropping 1.125 oz of shot.

The 12SO is primarily a 1 oz wad. With certain powders reloading data does exist for use of this was in AA and Rem. cases but you may notice slight bulge in hull where base of was seats on powder.

Now your fig 8 wads have a number of listed loads for AA hulls.

You could always sell Fed. hulls and wads and buy what your use to.

A few months ago, I was given some Federal wads and loaded a couple of boxes of old syle AA hulls. The result was that about 25% sounded weak (low pressure sounds) but hit the targets.
