just because it's short doesn't make it an RL. RLs have a smaller pistol grip area, nice for small hands. Should be able to get it down to 13.5 or so.

I was thinking about reworking the whole stock but I need 12 inch lop.

Just could get this one for a great price.

The length from trigger to end of stock tube on a 301 is 12 1/4". Add your pad length and you have the shortest LOP you can achieve without shortening the stock tube and spring. That must be done by a gunsmith who has experience with that. And then you must shoot light loads only and still could have some ejection issues.
