I have read hundreds of posts regarding the newest/best bore cleaning agents out here.
Today, I was fortunate enough to pay a visit to Roger Eubanks at Eubanks Gunsmithing in Homedale, Idaho to get a trap gun tuned. Somehow the topic of gun cleaning came up. Roger said that he has repaired or shit canned a number of guns that were soaked in various cleaning concoctions. Roger told me that he has used Hoppes#9 for 40 years and has never had an issue and #9 always worked safely and effectively.
Anyone who knows Roger Eubanks and is familiar with his incredible work will have confidence in his advise as do I.

Been using it for 55 years. Nothing better. I still have a quart of two of the original formula still.
As others said a good cologne too.

I use pretty much whatever oil or solvent is available. I don't have a particular favorite, but I always get a smile on my face when I get some #9 because it always makes me think of the tons of people out there who love it's smell.

It reminds me of my grandpa who taught me how to hunt and fish . He has been dead for 45 years and #9 still brings a tear to my eye.

That's what I have used ever since I started helping my grandfather clean his deer rifle. I have tried others but always return to the Hoppes!!!

I always have a bottle. I like Kroil for a Waite down and bore lube and even Remoil, but the bore always gets cleaned with #9.

Hoppe’s #9, I’ve been using it for 56 years. Not the new synthetic, the original #9. I buy it by the 32oz bottle. Maybe I’m old school, but it works for me. Always has. I do use Q Maxx BLU for the outside of my barrels to protect them from rain. But for cleaning ALL my gun barrels it’s Hoppe’s!

My wife says that the smell Hoppe's #9 reminds her of her Dad. He was a keen duck hunter, in his day.
I've been using the stuff for 60 years.
I like Hoppe's #9 for Black Powder as a patch lube, but it has become hard to find in Canada.

Grew up in the '50s when you used two things Hoppes #9 and a can of Three-in-One oil. Still got a glass quart bottle of #9 seal unbroken.
