Hodgdon High Gun?

Is this a new powder from Hodgdon? I was just looking at the Hodgdon site and saw it there, not in stock though. I just don't recall seeing it before. The labels shows loads for straight and tapered hulls in 1 or 1 1/8 oz. I don't see it listed on their reloading site, just the products site.

The data for both powders are enough to give me a sense of how they perform such that i could come up with some loads with components i have that I could send in for testing and have a reasonable chance the data would come back within the pressure range.
Yes, the last few years have expanded my reloading senses to new levels. It would cost me the price savings of 16 to 24 pounds of the new stuff to send out reloads to be tested. So I bought 16 pounds of titewad instead and saved myself the bother. C'mon Hodgdon, you have a new product you want to sell, don't be half assed about it. Show me the data. On your shotshell reloading data website! I stock and plan years in advance, it is not professional for a new product to come out without real world data.
High Gun data;

9/8 oz shot, Rem STS case, Rem Fig 8 wad, Rem 209P primer, 18.5 grains of HG, equals 1255 fps.

9/8 oz shot, Win AA case, WAA12 wad, Win 209 primer, 18.4 grains of HG, equals 1255 fps.

Those are the exact same data's that are listed in the Hodgden reloading manual calling for Titegroup. The 1oz data's for those hulls are also identical.

Since St Marks appears to be the manufacturer for both HG and Titegroup, HG appears to be the same powder, just rebranded because of a small price difference, or for whatever reason.

If a manufacturer/distributor introduces a "new" product, advertises and hypes it and "fills the pipeline", they will have made a fair amount of money.

I am particularly interested in the particle size.

Me as well. I would much prefer a larger particle size, but that probably didn't happen.

Nice. Ok, Hodgdon titegroup and Hodgdon High Gun price the same, and reload the same at max loads. You are saying some sort of corporate BS or copyright prevents Hodgdon from selling the same powder at the same price with the same name ?

I couldn't answer that Tomk.
I wasn't a front office guy, I dealt with the hands-on, user part. I'll can only put forward my opinion that I wrote above.

The "If a manufacturer/distributor introduces a "new" product, advertises and hypes it and "fills the pipeline", they will have made a fair amount of money" statement is a well-known concept though.

I wish they would do this same “new” product for a Clays replacement. It does not bother me that they sell H110 and 296 or Titegroup and High Gun as long as I can buy what I need. Perhaps there are minor differences like flake size or shape but if performance is the same that’s fine. Some flake sizes and shapes work better in some machines than others.
Just looking at the Data from other Hodgdon powders looks like same recipe as Titegroup, but they do not list pressure on the label.

Matching one Exact recipe is not perfect but like you said get you in the ball park to have a load tested.

I just got an email from Powder Valley that they have these 2 powders in stock. However I just ordered two 8 lb jugs if Titegroup from them last week at $210 each so I guess I'll use those up first and see what info comes out about these two new powders. Sure wish and am hoping that one can be used for 20 gauge!
I realize with it being so "new" the data will follow. However I have emailed Hodgdon for any additional data on Rem Nitro/STS with Ched primers. I'll post what they respond with, if its worthy.

There is no data to support the new powders, making it a dubious purchase choice. I'd like to know what drop gives me what speed, pressure, etc, with what weight of shot.

Here is the data on the High Gun for those who haven't seen it.

Thanks. I did contact Hodgdon this morning and they did get back to me indicating that there will be more expanded data on their site in a couple of weeks.

Hodgdon's email reply to me "Data for these new shotshell powders will post to the website reloading data very soon along with bushing charts." That implies that these are new powders, not rebrands.
I wish they would do this same “new” product for a Clays replacement.
The other "New" product is called Perfect Pattern and it looks like it will do about what Clays will do. About 15 - 16 grains of powder for a 1 ounce load at 1180 fps.

Which is really, really close to what I am using right now with the Canadian Clays.

I saw that. Now it comes down to pressures.

Powder Valley had some in stock a couple days ago
Why don't they have a 1-1/8 load? Is the pressure too high

See and I am like why dont they have a 1250 fps load for perfect pattern. High gun has both.....
Data and bushing reference is up on Hodgdons site.
