Hello Everyone..
I just picked up a sweet, long tang BT-99 and I'm looking to find out when it was built. I went to the Browning site and it didn't make sense to me!!!
BT-99 Fixed 34" Full choke and Serial # starting with 47D #####..
I THINK it's a 1969 Model but not sure.
Anyway way to verify?

Thanks in advance.
Frye.

Not sure if this helps but mine is a 37Dxxxx and was told by Browning that its a 1973 vintage....which would make yours a 1974? maybe..or not?

You may want to go on Browning's website (www.browning.com) and look at the FAQ which may help you. I was able to track the BT-99 Competition Model that I currently own. Darrell

OK, 47D has to be pre 1976 as Browning re-standardized it's serial # identification..
Serial # beginning with 01001 at the start of each year.

Date of manufacture is a 2 digit code:
ie: Z=1,
Y=2,
X=3,
W=4,
V=5,
T=6,
R=7,
P=8,
N=9,
M=0,

Serial # example: 01001NVH99
This would be a BT100 12 GA. Grade 1 shotgun Manufactured in 1995 with the serial # 01001.

Other than that I would suggest you contact Browning as BT-100dc suggested.
