I need to replace the forearm on my Model 12 and having a heck of a time trying to loosen the forend nut.
May I ask for any suggestions and info on how to best do this? I do have the spanner wrench.
Any input will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. JM

Put the spanner wrench in a vise with the lips of the spanner facing you. Take the forend and mag tube assembly off the barrel and then put the forend nut into the spanner wrench slots and turn while pressing into the spanner wrench, turn the forend until it breaks loose. Be sure you are turning it in the proper direction, and not tightening it!

Jim I have actually had to apply a small amount of heat with a butane torch. Yes a "little" heat goes a long way. The vise trick as mentioned above is a must also. Good luck, it will come off. Jerry

Might need a product like "knock r loose". The suggested method is the correct way to not damage nut or wood.
