I must have opened an infected e-mail or it happened when I re-opened my facebook account, I de-activated it, I wanted to find out how to block my address book, can this be done?

I googled how to block it and it said it cannot be done, If I get one more Damean reports, I am going to empty my address book.

I did reply to an online job opening a few days ago.

Yes I have. I would guess that you are using Windows Live for your e mails. I changed my account password and that fixed the problem. good luck TG

My operating system is Ubuntu. It's pretty much bulletproof against this kind of garbage.

Ah...I admit to that, almost fell to the scam to send $1500 to a stranded friend in London for airfare.

Just change your e-mail password & it will stop. Turns out, it looked like I was trying to sell Viagra to everybody, LOL

If you got/get a virus from Facebook, chances are that it will not be blocked by your virus protection software. The best thing to do is not open the video/song links that appear on your page supposedly sent by a "friend".

I've got hit twice....one was so bad that I had to replace the hard drive in a laptop. I know several others that had similar experience from FB.

My approach to resolving the problem was to deacivate my FB account and leave it that way. May not be for you, but works for me.

1st thing I did was de-activate my Facebook as it started when I started Facebook back up.

Have not had a problem since.

When you say high jacked,is it using your e-mail to send it's own spam to others? If so,just change your e-mail password and it'll stop it.Basicly some one or company got your info and uses it to promote their spam.

dhip:I got it corrected, I changed my password, and att.com took control of my computer and made some changes so it cannot happen again.

The name of the CULPRIT was TRUESWITCH I got it when I opened up my Facebook account, so I deactivated Facebook.

I never gave my password to anybody, I don't know how they got it.

Mine got hijacked a few years back. I changed all the addresses in my address book so they were no longer good.

The only way I found out was by a TS.com member saying he sees I have got into another business. NO, I had not. Several here probably remember. Ray

I have had the same issue where everyone in my address book was receiving Spam emails from my email address. I ran virus checks and downloaded everything in the world trying to stop it. Nothing worked except changing the password.

It was interesting though how I got the virus. It was downloaded to my home computer by a drive by hacker downloading it through my wireless router.

My wife was sitting in the kitchen using her work laptop when a message popped up on the screen that her virus protection system (Symantec) had intercepted 7 trojan horse viruses being downloaded through my router. In the past I used the router with no password. But ever since then I've applied a password required to get onto the router.
