ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Tens of thousands of dollars in guns are missing.

Investigators with the St. Charles Police Department said someone took several shotguns, a semi-automatic rifle, a handgun, and a semi-automatic shotgun from a storage locker along Old Highway 94 last week.

Five Lindenwood University students on the University's shotgun sports team were storing their guns in the off campus storage facility.

The Lindenwood University shooting team is using the guns to practice for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Could be they will not let them have guns on campus.
You would think however they could find a more secure place to store them.

The news this A.M. noted that the camera coverage was minimal at best....up a stump on that avenue.

I have long been an advocate of filing serial numbers on this website for stolen guns. Most often, serial numbers.are not written and thus, nearly impossible to identify a stolen gun.. Just a thought....m

This looks like another example of what happens when a school says no guns on campus. The trap team has to keep their guns somewhere so they use a mini warehouse. We have the same problem at our club. We would like to have the kids store them in our safe but ATF has told us that they have to be run through our register as we are a FFL holds. Creates a real problem.

Last I knew, they had a gun safe available on campus, in the same area they reloaded their practice shells. But that would have been probably 5 or 6 years ago now, so things have probably changed since then.

According to their website, there is a vault on campus. Shooters can store them there or off campus.

There is a vault in the basement of the admissions office (old bank) but many of the students who practice outside of the team (USA Shooting Team members and others) keep their guns off campus for easier access when not practicing with the collegiate team.

Sad... Really upsetting!

How about we blame the dirtbag that stole the guns, not the method I which they were stored. People can get into gun safes, a lot harder than a storage locker locker, but they still do it all the time. I hope that the guns can be recovered, what a shame....

#1 evil in this world is Greed.#2 is Jealousy. To many people knew what and where they figured out how.Spoke to past team member, there is secure storage on campus. He is working on his masters degree. His opinion the store & lock has the rule no firearms.Education is not cheap(bet they do not get credit hours on this lesson) School of hard knocks,if you want to keep anything this day and age secure it. A fish would not get caught if it keep its mouth shut.Take the decals off your vehicles never carry uncased guns outside. One glance by wrong a$$hole #1 or #2 kicks in.. None of them will forget this lesson.
