I have used STOS, Shooters Choice syringe grease, and various oils over the last 60 years. As a kid my Dad had us clean every thing with original Hoppe's and "3 in 1" oil.

Lately I have been carrying Hercules Silicone Plumbers Grease. Cheaper than STOS. When I bought my DT-10 Beretta it included a small bottle of Beretta Brand oil.

Mobilgrease XHP 221 is designed for low temperature use and is supposed to provide good lubrication on sliding components. It is blue, has a pronounced petroleum scent, and is not too thick being NLGI 1. I’m trying it out now and I’m interested to see if it gets runny in summer heat.

I was told by my gunsmith to use the Kreighoff grease so I did. The Q-Tips leave lint. I was told to use the little acid brushes, which I did, and they leave bristles. I guess the lint that escapes me is less harmful than the bristles which might escape me. But I sure wish there was something that worked well without leaving stuff behind. Edit: I am now using the made for guns "toothbrushes". Works fine.

I spread it with my finger but I wear nitrile gloves to clean.

Kreighoff still had gun glide for sale on there site. I also purchase at NAPA store Super Lube Synthetic grease in a nice small tube. Its clear and does not get all over your vest like colored lubes.

20 or so years ago my shop was near a private club that held a shoot on good friday. the son of one of the members came into my shop and asked if i had any lithium grease. (i did not). he said that his father asked him to check. his father owned a company that made bearings. how about that!!

for those of you that use oil and not grease; you must know more that the gun manufactures. because they either include a grease with the gun, or recommend grease. furthermore, when it is hot, the oil runs out; grease does not...............
