The gun that blew up in Kelowna, B.C. while trapshooting was a new Guerini.
The gun and ammo were taken by the RCMP for analysis. I was on #5 post.
An RCMP officer on post 1 sustained a shrapnel injury to the head, #2 was
the gun that blew up, #3 was not hurt, #4 suffered a severe injury to his
leg (the side plate of the gun blew a hole right through the inner thigh
portion of his leg luckily hitting no bone or major artery). Pieces of the
gun were found close to traphouse 2 ( we were shooting on traphouse 1).
As to why the gun blew up is speculation. The shooter was an extremely good
careful shooter with years of esperience. He reloads. The barrel of the
gun was not damaged but the pins, lugs, sideplates all disintegrated. The
gun will be examined probably by the RCMP forensic lab.
