On one of the many financial news networks a Petroleum Marketer was making some predictions for 2014 and was saying that because of market conditions he expected crude prices to trend down for most of 2014 and he expected crude oil to be as low as $80.00 a barrel which could translate into gasoline below 3 bucks a gallon or even less depending on your state fuel taxes. He also stated that the United States is very close to being Energy Independent and soon could be producing more than it uses. At any rate, this could be great news for trapshooting where we have been experiencing nothing but increases and shortages. I do so hope this is true. I mean 50 cents to 75 cents less per gallon is pretty important to traveling trapshooters. I just hope this guy knows what he is talking about...............Uncle Sam, Pa.

Did you know that the US now exports most of the crude produced here? It is a lower grade and costs more to produce the distilates we need. Therefore we still import most of the crude we use for the production of unleaded gas. It is the refineries that really controll the costs. Just watch. As soon as the price startes to get close to three buck oh oh there is a problem at a refinery. We need to raise the price now because one refinery that produces 1% of our gas has to go down for repairs. They will get their money for the share holders one way or another. Just when you think you have it figured and and think the price should come down they just think of another excuse. The government won't touch them because too much money involved.

Mike....You are right on the money. The commonwealth just tacked on 25 cents a gallon over 5 years to pay for bridges and some of it started Jan.1 2014. If this petroleum expert is correct maybe lower crude prices will offset some of those taxes. At least a fuel tax is something that nearly everyone pays instead of taxing the landowner or equity owner. I have my fingers crossed that this expert's predictions come true................Uncle Sam, Pa.

You are reading my mind Old Cowboy. They'll do anything to drop gas prices this summer before the elections, then propose an increase in the Federal Gas tax after the elections...the tax will never go away.

CNN was telling us that "more economical cars had reduced gasoline usage in the U.S. by 10%" and that the U.S. was EXPORTING GASOLINE before dumb ol' George finished his last term in office. Wonder what happened after that? ;-)

Unleaded went up $.20 overnight from $3.08, to $3.28 about 4 days ago.

At $3.08, we were the cheapest in about 5 counties, but a trip to Southern Indiana found it at $3.09.

I don't believe in shortages of fuel, only shortages of profit!

The Alaska crude oil has been exported to Japan and other world markets from day 1.

Gasoline was $2.00 a gallon when O'bummer took office. He will take care of his Muslim brothers!

You want low fuel prices, vote out the liberals/socialists in 2014 and again in 2016, repeal every regulation the Obama regime has implemented, kill off the EPA and the Dept of Energy and any other Fed. agency that can implement hidden taxes or regulations that have a negative impact on the economy. Fire every employee in the Fed. Gov. that was hired or promoted under the Obama regime. Prices on everything will start tumbling down, especially gasoline.

Exports of crude oil are supposed to be banned, but apparently fuel distillates are being exported. When I asked my representative why, he says it is a world market and all products should be sold to the highest bidder. His theory is that if we start restricting exports, other countries will begin to restrict imports.

Watch liberals propose enough taxes to bring gas to $5 a gallon. They do this every time gas gets "too cheap". All in the name of Global Warming.

There is not progress that Oil Industry technology can possibly develop that cannot be stopped by an out of control EPA and a socialist government that wants to keep us weak and dependent on them.

I'm with Leo.

I doubt 2.00 gas will ever be a reality regardless of how much we find.

More like 3-4.00 will be the norm.
