And it's prima facia evidence of the exact kind of waste the tea party wants to see an end to. Irony.

Yep and the "Cash for Clunkers" I read somewhere that the Government spent $6 to save $1 !!

The Feds have never been about saving money, only SPENDING money! They have a printing press don't ya know!!

The incredibly incompetent thing about "Cash Fo' Clunkahs" is that it targeted vehicles that were of recent enough vintage that the less affluent could have bought used, yet did nothing about the older vehicles that get worse fuel mileage and pollute more. Not very well thought out.

The problem in America is that saving money does not net you any supporters.

Spending money gets you supporters.

That's why spending $6 to save $1 makes perfect sense in Government. Hell, just take that dollar you saved, add it to the kitty, save nothing and spend $7...you just got 17% more money to buy people's votes with...and "employed" more people in the process. It's Stone Soup math folks.

That's part of the reason why, upon further reflection, the Republicans are allowing the Sequester to go away. It may have netted them supporters when it was first announced, but today nobody remembers it except their enemies. Better off to spend it to garner votes to buy your way back into power - then once you're there, it's available for YOU to spend!

So chalk it down on your calendar. Two years in which the Federal Government spent less. Never to be repeated. And nobody noticed.

At some point the Gorilla In The Room (National Debt)is going to want to be fed.

There will be some very hard times when the hyperinflation caused by excess money printing makes for 20 dollar loaves of bread.

Usury and Fiat Money will piss on the USA's grave.

The government didn't spend it - they WASTED it.

This could be a joint study thereby cutting costs. At the same time study Logic and Common Sense. The resulting outcome will be the same. ed
