A friend called this evening asking about the removal of "gold" from a stainless revolver. The gold was applied by a former owner and new owner would like to remove the "gold" from the gun. The new owner believes that the gold is real and not a gold like material.

Get the torch out and go to it. If he is that greedy then he should not have that gun. Just leave it alone.

First it is hard to plate Stainless Steel, so if it is gold how is it on there?

If it is inlaid, he will do more damage then it is worth to undo it.

If it is on parts like the hammer, trigger, sights and such then buy the SS parts and replace them.

If by chance it is actually plated onto SS parts, have it polished away.

But first show some pictures so we don't have guess what he is dealing with!
