I am just offering a thought, not a pro or con debate.
What about when gay couples marry. Then things dont work out, and say they want a divorce. Do all the same rules apply, as in a straight marriage.ie child support, spousal support, division of assests, 50% of one 's retirement, 50% of the equity in the home. Are all the laws the same. Just wondering.

Same sex marriage is legal here in Ontario, Canada. One of the main reasons that people pushed for the legalization aside from the obvious, was that many folks had long term same sex relationships. They lived together for decades as spouses. When one of them got sick or passed away, often the other partner was excluded from decisions regarding medical treatment and the estate. Bill Malcolm

They just want something they didn't have before, or just something to bitch about. It seems the trend for the heteros is just to co-habitate and not get involved in all this loss/division of assets. Just give the fudge packers and ******* a few years and thy will realize they had it better before.

Ahab, I don't know about Tennessee, but in Arkansas they can, even maintain their brother-sister status also.
