I have a Franchi 48 AL 20 Ga automatic. Shoots ok but how do you clear the magazine of unfired shells? pulling the bolt back does not release shells from the magazine tube. Only way to remove shells is to pull the barrel back. Is there something missing or broke? Just got the gun and not sure how it works. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks Larry

Ushoot2 has it right, the magazine block design in the Franchi A48l allowed you to carry the gun with a full mag with the breech open and all you needed to do to shoot was drop a cartridge in the side and release the bolt, on the other hand when you have taken a shot all you have to do is pull the bolt back and retrieve the cartridge and you are ready to walk some more, the barrel has to recoil to release a cartridge from the magazine. Good feature I think

Larry,Flip the gun over press the trap door down press the shell latch which is on the left side. This will release one shell at a time.

Thanks to all who replied. Will try what chukar16 suggested. seems strange but
mans gota do what a mans Gotta do. Argus, the birds here in Indiana are too
fast to drop in a shell and close the bolt, and are too skiddish to hold for
the dog, hearing the blot slam shut. Thought that was what the safety was for.
thanks again Larry
