I would really like to know how you established this value. I have my Grandfather's sidearm from WWI a 1917 Model 1911 Remington. Nobody I have evr shown it to has ever indicated it had that kind of value. I would like to know for my grandchildren.

GI REMINGTON UMC 1911 WAS MADE ONLY IN 1918 AND 1919, FROM WHAT I HEAR,THE REMINGTON IS THE SECOND RAREST GI 1911, SINGER IS THE RAREST, I THINK THEY MADE ONLY ABOUT 21,676 REMINGTON UMCs, MOST WERE MADE 1918,MINE WAS MADE IN 1919, THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE COLLECT GI ISSUED 1911s. I THINK I HAVE A NICE ONE, IF SOMEONE ELESE THINKS SO, THEY WILL PAY 3,500.00. IF THEY DONT THINK IT IS AS NICE AS I DO, THEY CAN MAKE A OFFER............THANKS, RICK.....PS GO TO COLECTOR FIREARMS AND SEE WHAT THEY SELL FOR THERE....PS AGAIN, THERE WERE ALSO A REMINGTON RAND 1911 GI, MADE MUCH LATER AND BY A TYPEWRITER CO.(NOT THE SAME GUN)
