I have a as new condition Hasting 1100 Trap Barrel. This is the high rib one that Shotgun Sports sells. It comes with 3 choke tubes (Mod, IMOD, Full) and wrench. I have all the paperwork. This barrel has a .740 Backbore.

CalvinMD,

It will work on a 1187 with a simple mod of the extractor.

ec - Are you sure? I think the location of the gas ports and the barrel ring are off a little as well preventing it from fitting on an 11-87 - or is it the other way around that the 11-87 barrel won't fit on the 1100... One of those swaps I know does not work......

Joe,

As I remember it, the width of the extractor was the hold-up un this being a true swap. It was discussed on this site a couple of years ago, but for the life of me I can't remember who it was. My memory isn't as good as it once was, and I may be wrong. LOL.

ec - you are right about the extractor - 100% dead on - it's only a few thousanths of an inch, but it matters. But I know (becuase I tried) that the 1100 and 11-87 barrels do not interchange one way, but do okay the other. If you remove the barrels from an 11-87 and an 1100 and stand them next to each other, you will see that the detent on the magazine tube for the gas seal ring on the one is slightly higher than on the other - I just don't remember which is which right now (though I think the 11-87's is higher). Anyway, when you try and place the (for the sake of argument - I may have it backwards) the 1100 barrel on the 11-87 frame you will find it does not go all the way into the receiver because the seal area on the 11-87 is slightly higher than the corresponding gas seal area on the barrel. The other way around is not a problem with fit, but funtion with light loads then becomes suspect because of the resulting gap. Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's the 11-87 barrel fits s the 1100 becasue I recall a friend of mine buying one and putting it on his 1100 in order to shoot 3" steel.

Joe,

I believe that you are correct. It comes to mind now what you are saying. Thanks for the refresher!

God, we're both getting old.....

Have a nice weekend - if you have the whole gun there is a guy looking to trade a Benelli Super Sport for an 1100 trap....

I highly recommend the seller in this transaction. The barrel arrived in perfect condition because Eric went the "extra mile" to package it VERY well.
Much thanks!! Rick Kipp... Texas
