I thought the same thing at first but the top picture is because of the green cloth sticking up and making a shadow on the wood im sure the bottom picture is shadows also.

By the way Nice wood also is this Trap grade or is it for a sporting clay or skeet type of gun.

The reason i ask is since it is a straight stock I know trap stocks are made both way but I usually see the monte carlo type.
