Been thinking on trying a jug of Alliant Extra Lite Powder, anybody have any luck or experience with this??? This will be for a one ounce load, 16s and first shot of doubles. Also what wads are you using with this powder? Any comments will help. Thanks, Paul Baker

Just hated it when I fist shot it. Then I played around with the loads now I just love it for 16yds and first shot.Burns really clean and a little goes a long ways. I dont really see any recoil reduction. Federal hull Cb 12SO 1oz 15.7 gr chedditte.

I just cracked open my second 8lb jug of it before it got cold here. I like it a lot. It burns clean, meters well, and a requires a little less powder than red dot for the same velocity.

I use it for 3/4 and 7/8oz. loads in 12ga. It is excellent for these loads. Very clean burning and doesn't take much powder. I would stay away from 1oz. loads as the PSI gets quite high on these. I believe this powder was developed for the light loads of shot. For 1oz. and higher loads there are powders that are better and PSI is not pushing the upper limits.

+1 for RedBone - ultra clean, especially with a Fed. primer. Would not go over 1200fps. for 1 oz. loads. If you use an auto, you can go another 2-3 flats extra before cleaning. Cleaner than E3 which is saying something.

I tried it because I hoped the extra bulk would allow me to use TGT-12 wads for 7/8oz loads and still get a correct crimp. Didn't work out that way unless I pushed velocities up to 1300fps.

It is a very nice, clean powder for 7/8oz. I didn't like it as much for 1 oz. I'm going to stick with e3 for both 7/8 and 1 oz loads, because I feel it works better for both loads in the 1150-1200fps range.
