Don't shoot at low birds - huge safety issue. Let them leave the ring and take them going away if permitted.

If you are limited to one post (some shoots rotate guns periodically) pick one that is up wind of the tower. Pheasant tend to fly into the wind so you should see more action on the up wind posts.

Tower shoots are shoots not hunts. Talk to the dog handlers to see if there is an opportunity to hunt strays after the shoot is over- much more fun IMO.
