That's it, thanks. For the life of me I could not remember his name. jack m
Bill Mains?
Bill inlaid the gold target and engraved this trigger guard for me at a Michigan Trapshooting Association shoot c.2002.
He'd let you watch over his shoulder while engraving freehand.

I too miss watching Bill engrave guns at Markham Park. He used to attend the Big Handicap Shoot at this club every year. Bill loved to have Folks watch him engrave. Almost as much as he loved to talk about all the places he had been, and the guns from Famous people he worked on over the years. We also had the Country Gentleman, and Pylinski Arms Gunsmithing attend each shoot every year as well. Back in the good ole days. I still have a business card from Bill, with his engraving patterns and grip caps listed on the card. I have his grip cap installed on my 525 Browning shotgun as well. May He RIP!!! break em all jeff

I have a buckle engraved and presented to me by Bill Mains at Markham Park on one of the rare days I shot well a few years back. My favorite.

Bill did a grip cap with a gold target inlayed for me in Texas at the worlds, He even let me watch for a couple of hours while he was working in it. After he finished I said I want the trigger guard done next time, . He said don't wait to long. Might not be around too long! Well he passed soon after the worlds that next year. Guess I will never get the top latch done!! Awesome talent and a great guy also...

I happen to be one the lucky guys that had some of Bill's work done one of my guns. When he got done, he told me you will be the proud owner of the ONLY Alfermann that Bill Mains will engrave!!!!!! hope u enjoy
