Has anyone used an edge sander for recoil pad fitting? Basically a 6 X 80 horizontal belt sander on its side with an adjustable table to keep everything square. I am intrigued. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Yes, thats what I use as well. Just make sure the table is square to the belt. Ive done several pads, with and without lubrication. i.e. WD40 etc. The oil mixed with rubber dust makes a big mess and gets everywhere. I just do them dry now and cut a little at a time so it doesnt get too hot and gummy. Good luck. JT

Thanks for the response. Do you prefer an edge sander to a 6 X 48 belt sander?
