We will be having another Lewis Class Shoot at Redlands on March 16th. Sign ups at 8:30, shooting at 9:00.
Our first two shoots have been very well received and we are hoping for 60 shooters to come out and have some great fun and shoot for some nice checks.
The basic format is to shoot 50 targets and then divide the scores into Lewis classes. By example, with 60 shooters we would divide the scores into three classes representing the top 20 scores, the middle 20 scores and the bottom 20 scores. We then take the top 5 scores in each class and those 5 shooters shootoff for their class purse. Because the purse contribution is $10, each class would be shooting for $200 divided 75/25 between the class champ and class runnerup. The cool part of this format is that the shooter who posts the 45th best score shoots for the same amount of money as the shooters who run 50 straights but he's in a shootoff against the shooters who posted the 40th-44th best scores.
The fun comes in because we shootoff right after each 50 target qualifier and everyone gets to watch the 5 shooters in each class pucker up for some real money.
Because we use the Lewis system to fill the shootoffs, our shooters don't have to have established averages or yardages so we get all types of shooters looking to have some fun competition. So if you are in SoCal, come out and join us. If your club would like to run this type of shoot to get some targets in the air and offer all club members a chance to compete, PM us and we can tell you how the scoring works.
