I have a release trigger on my BT-99 where I set the trigger, hold the trigger then release to fire. Does a double release trigger on an over under work the same way only repeated for the second barrel?

^^^ I don't think that is very good advice at all.
YOU should be in control of the trigger. Not all loads recoil the same,not all guns recoil the same.
You don't always want your second barrel 'set' immediately after the first shot...

I've only been shooting double Release for about 3 1/2 years but I do it a lot.

Many doubles shooters prefer release pull. Perhaps you might consider that option as well.
