Today at the local trap range it quit raining/snowing between 1 PM and 4:30 for everyone to get in all the shooting they wanted.

Several had new guns ranging from one shooter with a new Perazzi combo gun to another shooter with a new Browning Citori combo gun from Guns Unlimited in Omaha.

In fact, think everyone at the range was talking about buying a new gun this year.

One person had already been to a Tucson shoot where he had bought the Perazzi though he went with the intention of buying a Krieghoff. He was getting a Wenig custom stock made for the Perazzi.

Another shooter was getting a Blaser F3 with a DeVault stock and a new Krieghoff K-80 too. That's two new guns for one shooter.

They all agreed that the big shoots were where one should go to look and to buy.

Don't recall the same level of excitement about buying new trap guns in 2009 or 2010, but I just may not have heard the conversations or saw the results of the buying spree.

But guess everyone is getting a new trap gun this year.

Must be part of the Stimulus Plan.

Goose2,

I ain't buying one at this time.

Actually broke my winter doldrums today shooting my old Browning Citori and got my first 25 Straight since last fall.

And I have no trips planned that coincide with a big trap shoot anywhere so I can't look and try out the new hardware like the folks going to the Big Shoots can.

I have enough SBT guns now.

But a gun to master Doubles would be nice.

How are those new guns that you got coming along, Goose2 ?

Are you still coming to the Pocatello fun shoot, i.e., turkey shoot ?

What???

I'm still using the same bowling ball I've had since 1977 and the same gun I've used since 1984. I have several pairs of shoes I still wear from the seventies. I have finally let go of most of the sixties stuff though. My 8-tracks finally gave up the ghost.

Too much money floating around on this forum, LOL.

Looks like they have more money than they have good sense. Take a look at the gun Kay Ohye shot when he won the GAH, he has been shooting it for quite awhile.

I have been shooting the same gun since 2006.

It would be good if you would define "New" I have purchased three trap guns sense I took up the sport One from Gander and two from the previous owners, All were new to me. All cost more than I thought I would ever spend on a gun before I was educated as to what a serious trap shooter would need to perform well at the line.
So I ask what is "new"?

Well, to help the Stimulus Plan...

Guess at least one person has to buy a NIB trap gun.

Then he sells his old one to someone else, who sells their old one to someone else, who sells their old one to someone else...

But for it to be Stimulus, someone has to buy a totally new one.

Unfortunately, I ain't too much Stimulus.

Have been looking at new guns, but...

I'm waiting on one of the folks at the local trap range to give up on their nearly-new Krieghoff, Perazzi, or similar gun and sell it for the price of an older but not collectable Browning. Just wish there were more lefties at our range.

Hammer,

You already have the perfect gun to master doubles. You do not need a new gun. Jon

Wait, wait...

All the folks who have mastered Doubles have one of those guns that allow the two barrels to be adjusted to different points of impact -- 90/10 for the top barrel and 60/40 for the bottom -- and have a high rib large enough for a pheasant rooster to fly between the barrel top and the bottom of the rib.

I ain't got nothin' like that.

when you die, you can't take your money nor your material possessions to the "afterlife" LOL, so might as well enjoy your money now while you are alive...

Kim Rhoade, shoots her gun every day (800-1000) rounds. Beware of a person shooting an old gun with tape & scratch marks. I too, am guilty of being a member of the gun of the year club.
