Corker proposed an amendment, Dodd said it would be a disadvantage to those without the down payment.

I had to have a down payment and a closing cost. What a crock! Some folks are just plain stupid and you can't fix stupid. That's why were in the crap were in now. When I got married the morgage was based on what I made not both husband and wife. If the wife got pregnant the morgage would not be paid. Some where alone the way this was ruled out. How many of your friends are still married after 10 years? I'm going on 45 this November, and to the same girl.

Dodd never said those words.

How can you guys read it any differently?

I don't care for Senator Dodd's politics, same as you.

But if you want to find fault with those with whom you disagree politically, at least have the dignity to quote them accurately.

Attributing inaccurate or misleading statements to people for the sole purpose of making them look stupid, fails. It makes you look stupid, not them.

That was the purpose of my post.

Because the people who run Snopes are liberals.

There is a definite bias there, sometimes very subtle, sometimes just shy of blatant. The key is to read between the lines. For example, there was an email going around with a lot of "facts" about Obama. The number varied from around 40 to as high as 70, as some were added when the email made the rounds.

Were all of these "facts" true? No. Many were not.

Were SOME of these "facts" true? Yes, they were.

But here is where the subtle bias of Snopes kicked in. Snopes rejected ALL of the "facts" as false, but only cherry picked out a handful, and condemned all of the rest without examining them.

Snopes has its uses, but don't take everything they say or conclude at face value.

The last paragraph on the snopes comment tells what Dodd said, and though it's not what the referenced email reported, It is in the same vernacular. People without a down payment would be "denied" home ownership. Boo Hoo. I bought 3 houses and paid 20 % down on all of them.

Our country is foundering from allowing people to make dumb purchases without having any skin in the game. How people like Dodd, Frank, Geithner, Schumer, et al weaseled their way into the halls of power is a damn shame.

Let there be absolutely no question that Chris Dodd and I are in any way related. I'm sure he can trace his last name back to some "old country" while I got mine from a grandfather who assumed his Dodd moniker when he ran away from his 1890s home and didn't want to be found by extra stiff parents. This was well before social security cards and other means of tying down one's identity. Were he to have kept his original name, I would be a WULFF. Not sure I care much for the name Bob Wulff!......breakemall.....Bob Dodd
