Mike Baker a life long shooter from around the Brookville/West Alexandria area passed away Tuesday at the Palm Beach Florida VA Medical Center. Mike had been unable to shoot for the last 10 years or so due to health problems. He was the son of Carmon and nephew of Paul Baker, both life long shooters. Mike was the 1958 Grand American Sub Junior Clay Target Champ, made the 1958 Junior All American team and in 1965 he and his father won the Grand American Clay Target Parent and Child Championship. He had shot over 50,000 registered singles and a total of over 100,000 combined registered targets. He was a retired USAF pilot serving 25 years and a Vietnam Veteran. I got to spend last Saturday with Mike and if you knew Mike, I can tell you your name was in our conversation as he had one heck of a memory and asked about everyone. We talked about past Grands,Ohio State shoots, the Middletown and Greene County shooters and just about every shooter he or I could think of. He couldn't shoot anymore but his heart and soul was and will be always trapshooting. Thanks all, Paul (PJ) Baker

P.J.,
Pat & I send our sympathies to you and your family. We had a lot of good shooting and GOOD parties with our group that shot together with Mike. Will always have our memories of the great times.

I remember Mike well. In 1959 we shot off for the Ohjo junior singles championship. Mom dad and Mike all great people. My condolances to the family. I was also in a shootoff with Mikes dad Carmon for Grand American Handicap runner up in 1961.
