As a reminder...

As of June 1, 2009, you will need either a Passport or Enhanced Drivers License to enter into the US at any landcrossing. This applies to Americans, as well as Canadians. A birth certificate and drivers license will no longer be accepted.

A few other types of indentification will be recognized, but this is the minimum standard.

Most of the border states are issuing them, to include Texas, and a number of Canadian Provinces.

They contain a Radio Frequency Identification chip. No personally identifiable information will be stored on the card's RFID chip or be transmitted by the card. The card will use a unique identification number which will link to information contained in a secure database. This number will not contain any personal information.
