I remember hearing the Deck of Cards song when I was a kid.
Several people recorded it, including country greats Tex Ritter and Red Sovine, but I was shocked when I looked up the songs origins, to find it it's highest charts climb as a hit was is 1959, recorded by Wink Martindale, who performed it on the Ed Sullivan show.
That's right, Wink Martindale, who later gained fame as game show host.
All 3 versions of the recordings by the artists I mention, including those of others are on YouTube.
Does anyone know how in the world this "trick" is done? In 1965, I returned home from college to visit my parents. There was a visitor and distant relative visiting my parents at that time. He did a trick like this one that was even more amazing. Told a story with dealing cards while shuffling the deck.
