Can one explain why an occasional pierced primer is a problem?? I do like to recycle but I've never had any luck recycling primers!

When I was shooting the Fabarm RS 12 it punctured about 1 out of every 100. Same loader and set up and four years later with a Kolar and I don't remember a single one.

Think of it as a teeny tiny little cutting torch aimed right at your firing pin and the surrounding breech face. If it happens 1% of the time the damage simply takes longer to show than at higher rates. It will absolutely erode the tips of your firing pins. The breech face is less common, but I have seen it happen. Which is why I personally have a "zero tolerance" for piercing.

Ok Doofighter, that does make since! Over the last 10,000 rounds I have only seen two pierced primers plus the ones I have missed. So you point is well taken.

Why are we concerned about primer piercing? I dont plan to re-use them.

I had two Citori eroded the firing pin. I had to replace them.
