I had mine done 15yrs ago and started shooting 2mo's later on a limited basis.Had both eyes done 1 mo apart. It takes more time to fill out the papers than it does the operation.I had one eye nearsighted and the outher farsighted. if you have this done make damm sure your shooting eye is the farsighted one.as far as did it help i had no choice.it was like looking through wax paper. The only problem i have now is a large floater in my shooting eye.nothing i can do about that.hope this helps.

I had mine done in May of 2010. I waited four weeks; Dr. said I could shoot after two weeks. I added a couple of weeks just to make sure, I could see no reason to rush to risk a problem with vision. Best surgery one can do; a true marvel of medicine. Targets are clear and you can really see the rings on those flying disks!!!! Oh yes, you will still miss a target now and then, but they look sooo... good as they fly away!!!!

Be sure to tell the doctor that you are a shooter and do not use the type lens for both near and far.Tell him you want distance lens. The operation is easy, I could hear him talking to me but couldn't feel a thing, oly takes about 1/2 hour. You use an patch the first day and must use eye drops for two weeks. You will be amazed at the difference, You will probably wait 2-4 weeks between eyes. He told me to wait 1 week and could shoot, but I took off 2 weeks.

Thanks guys. I got for a consult next week. After that it's surgery. Maybe I should wait until the shooting season is over.

No sense in having down time in the middle of summer.

Make VERY sure you talk to some of his patients.I have had Lasik surgery 8 years before, went to a surgeon who supposetly specializes in this type of surgery. Bad mistake, left eye very right(shooting) eye bad and nothing can be done to help it. I have a blurry line which moves across the eye randomly. Check out the surgeon carefully!!!

Best thing I had done in a long time. I was legally blind. Had both eyes done last year two weeks apart. Dr. said to wait 2 weeks before shooting. I waited 4 just for the safety sake.

Right eye was done in 2008, waited 4 weeks, had no problems. As others have stated, check out DR. It takes a while for depth perception to come back and depends on how big the imbalance between eyes is! The brain will make the adjustment over time.
