The earlier single letter serial number guns were made form 1968 - 1975.
"D" denotes it is a BT 99.
Your number isn't in the standard format.

Your gun was made in 1975.

For some reason (intentional or accidental, I don't know) Browning transposed the BT-99 year-of-manufacture digits in 1973, 1974, and 1975.

1973 . . . serial number format is 37Dxxxxx . . . "73" was transposed to "37"
1974 . . . serial number format is 47Dxxxxx . . . "74" was transposed to "47"
1975 . . . serial number format is 57Dxxxxx . . . "75" was transposed to "57"

And, as mentioned in a post above, beginning in 1976, the serial number format changed completely whereby Browning changed to the two-letter code for year of manufacture.

The year is reverse order before the D designation, common in those years of 73-75. Yours was made in 1975.
