Hi fellow shooters. Any advice on installing a mid bead on a bt-99. Looks like the old bead is broke off and maybe made of plastic? Just drill out the old and purchase a new friction fit plastic pin? What am I missing. thank you, Jim

My son lost his mid bead on a BT 99 during the AIM Championship. I stopped by a smith during the Grand and he did not have any with him. I ordered two from Numrich
and they came in within a few days. I went back to the same smith with beads in hand. He was expecting to drill out the old one in order to insert the new. The original had just worked itself out. The replacement is a tapered pin with a white plastic insert. The smith told me they normally get sheared off and leave the steel taper pin which has to be removed. He would pull the old one out using a small numbered drill bit to catch the pin from the plastic center hole like you would use an easy out. The new pin was given a little dab of locktite and wacked into place using a nylon block and hammer. He mentioned you hit it with authority and dead plumb. On a related note, the kid shot a 98 in the Handicap Event missing the center bead for the last 25 and was in a 7-way tie for 3rd in Junior Gold. He ended up 5th after the shoot off.

regards, Todd
