EAST GRANBY, Conn. -- Bruce Costa fired a combined 194 x 200 to take the honors in the 23rd edition of the Mike Bryne Memorial Shoot at the Hartford Gun Club here Sunday.

Costa, bested 49 other shooters in the ATA-registered event, with a 100 x 100 in 16-yard singles, shooting in Class B, and a 94 x 100 in handicap, from the 27-yard line.

Brian Scussel trailed Costa by two shots with a combined 192. Alan Gnann finished third at 191.

Other highlights:

16-yd singles -- 85 shooters

Fred Andrulat, Brian Scussel, Andrew Krol Jr., and Robert Nihtila, Jr., tied at 99 x 100 in class AA. They elected to share the prize, rather than shoot off.

Peter Eaton took Class A with a 99 x 100, Paul Barcellos, Jr., shot 98 x 100 to take class C, and Marc Mastriano fired a 96 x 100 for Class D honors.

Handicap – 69 shooters

William Obrien and Malcolm Ross shared overall handicap honors with 94 x 100, electing not to shoot off. Ross shot in the 22-23.5-yard group and Obrien in the 18-21.5-yard group.

Paul Dumas defeated Ronald Sevigny 24-23 in a shoot off for the 22-23.5-yard group. Both had scored 92 x 100 in the regular event.

Doubles – 26 shooters

Class A – Paul Donovan, 96;
Class B – Thomas Brooks, 96;
Class C – Ralph Dixon, 91;
Class D – Matthew Cartisser, 84

The Hartford Gun Club program is dedicated to the memory of Mike Bryne, a longtime member of the club, and is made possible through the support of Mike’s widow, Gail Bryne, and her family.
