Hey fellas......I do not currently own a dedicated trap gun. I've just been using my Browning 525 Sporting 32" 12 gauge that I use for 5 stand and skeet. But my buddy is selling his XT Unsingle Combo 32"/34" for $3K. I can't find a lot of info on the XT. Seems like all the Browning unsingles I'm finding are 725s. The gun is in very good condition, has 6 Briley chokes plus a Browning luggage case. It's got the adjustable comb and adjustable butt pad.

The gun fits me well and I shot it well. I just don't know dick about trap guns. I'm not a rich man and I'm not a poor man. This seems like a great deal to me but I just want some opinions before I drop what is a good amount of money for me.

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes you just need to hear someone else say that before you dive in. I'm almost finished putting my second child through college.....so spare cash has been a scarce resource for me. But this gun is in excellent shape, it's got beautiful wood, I love Browning shotguns, it will hold value well and it will probably be the only trap gun I ever need. I mean I could save up for a more expensive gun but I'm not going to shoot it any better.

It a good deal IMO. Not a Great Deal!!! However these guns are slightly harder to sell. As I assume that the O/U barrel has a fixed rib. I hope the Unsingle has a adjustable rib. Or, I would not buy the gun at all. If both barrels have a fixed rib? It will be a very hard sell. If it does. I don't remember all the details on this gun now.

If your tight on cash? Your not going to shoot any better with the XT, than you would with your 525 32" inch Sporting shotgun. Just my 2 cents worth. Its your money, but you can't buy more broken targets with a different gun. Just ask Wadhopper here on TS.com!!! He must have bought over a dozen guns in just a couple of years. Chasing that perfect dream gun. They really don't exist, except in your mind.

However, In my opinion the XT trap has a better trigger than the 725!!! So you do have that going for you. But the XT trigger is the same as in your 525. So your not gaining anything. Now think about what I said about most trap shooters wanting the Adjustable rib on "Both" Combo Trap Barrels Today!!! Now, If you still want to buy this gun. I doubt you will lose money selling it in 6 months. So do as you wish. I just wanted to give you something to think about, before you lay out your Hard Earned Cash!!! Good Luck to Ya either way. break em all jeff

I own one and would not sell it at that price. If it is in good shape and not sloppy or has dinged wood buy it before he changes his mind. My gun has adjustable rib on unsingle and fixed on OU which shoot a bit high. Mine has invector plus chokes. I have shot a lot of shells and have changed the lower firing pin a few times , make sure the rib adjustment screws are tight. Good luck with your decision.

Jeff.....the unsingle barrel is adjustable and the O/U barrel is not. I've never even shot doubles yet! I'm just working the 16 yard line as best I can right now. :)

I'm in complete agreement with you that my scores are not going to improve just because I bought a trap gun. But I've had the opportunity to shoot this setup multiple times now and it just feels like the right tool for the job. And there is just something about having the same kind of equipment as my peers. That might sound silly from a 50 year old man but it feels good to fit in sometimes. And maybe if I feel better I'll start shooting better. Or not! And sometimes it's also just a lot of fun to buy and try new gear.

Stay safe!
