I had 2 Browning’s that went back into the shop both within their first year and then I went with a Franchi and haven’t had a single issue. So I’ll say that the 2 Franchi’s that I have owned have been great. BUT... the L is a little light for heavy clay shooting. If I were to buy a hunting O/U I would go with a Franchi it points amazingly well and is great to carry. if I were to go with a sporting clays gun I would look at either the Franchi Instinct Sporting 2 or a Browning. If I were looking at a Trap specific gun it would be a Browning over a Franchi.

My vote would be for a Citori CX. A friend of mine has one and I have shot it several times. It is a great shooting gun. I would have one if it didn't have the right handed palm swell or if they made a left hand version.

Having owned and shot both.....there is one Franchi and four Brownings in my safe.

My Browning Special Sporting Clays O/U has been my everything clays gun since the early '90s!!

The Franchi is a safe queen due to being the first gun I bought myself, but it is so loose I'm leary of still shooting it.

They are both nice shotguns. The Franchi is definitely a big step up from the Stoegers, Stevens and CZ’s. But for a clays gun where you may shoot thousands of rounds a year I would go with a Browning. It’s been a proven platform for decades. Any and all guns can break down or have a part failure. I don’t care how much it cost! They are all man made manufactured products. You pay more for quality metals and machining and for hand fitting and precise measuring all to reduce the chances of a failure. But it can still happen. That being said I’d bet on the Browning.

Out of curiosity what were the issues with the Browning’s that were bad enough to go back to the shop?

Thanks!
Citori wouldn’t fire second barrel no matter what shell was used. They told me to ship it in (on their dime) and they would fix it free... they did, it just took a month and a half. My Cynergy would open when the top barrel was fired. They fixed it free of charge again... just took FOREVER and the customer service was HORRIBLE. But given the two I still think a Browning is a fine choice. I have seen Brownings go forever without a single hiccup too I just really like the feel of my 2 Franchis. I like the feel of Italian guns over that of the Browning in my hands. That’s why I said for sporting or hunting I like Franchi, and for sporting or trap I’d go with a Browning. My personal recommendation would be to get a Beretta over both but Browning has better options for price over the Beretta.

Finding parts for a franchi are almost non existent for the older guns... Check where the newer ones are made....Turkey or similar third world country, stay away!!!!........resale on most Brownings is good........merlyn
SERIOUSLY!!?? Turkey?? They are made in Italy.

Can't help but ask. Did you buy both of these guns NIB or were they used?

If they were relatively new, you are the unluckiest Browning owner I've ever heard of!

All guns have the potential to break down, but seriously....

Good Luck and Good Shooting!
