Bore Sighters

Has anyone used any of the bore sighters available to do periodic checks on points of impact? I was wondering how accurate they could be for this use. I know that you can't beat the patterning board for final results but it would be nice to be able to have an idea what a stock adjustment might do before I send shot downrange. I've seen the muzzle mount and shotshell styles so any recommendations on the best way to go is appreciated.
