On Monday of Grand week, the Blue-Gray Shootout will be held after opening ceremonies. There will be two separate competitions, one for category shooters and one for All Americans.
I have a Confederate flag and intend to fly it. However, I plan to cheer for the Gray team in one event and to be fair, to cheer for the Blue team in the other event.
In light of all the hub-bub about the flag, just wondering how others feel on this non-issue, IMO. My feeling is that it is a part of our nation's history. True students of the Civil War know that it wasn't all about slavery.
Regardless of your opinion on past Confederates, I hope everyone will join in the fun and cheer on your favorite shooters.

I say fly it high and proud, but I am FAR from politically correct!

I don't think you'll get much objection from folks on here aside from a few lib weenies.

Wave it high and proud.

If you take a trip to Gettysburg, you will see it and the Stars and Stripes everywhere. It is history, and no amount of political correctness can change history. It is what it is! Bulge.

I'm not asking for permission, just interested in hearing other opinions on the matter, and I wanted to encourage everyone to come support the event.

I think it's all about the setting it's used in. In a Blue/Grey competition I'd consider it appropriate.

On the back of a skinheads pickup truck at midnight in a black neighborhood, a different matter.

My new word:

Confederaphobe (noun): One who greatly fears a short-lived, historic state of union - which has not existed for 150 years (putting forth that states have equal rights) - including Confederate symbols, nor any memory of the Confederate States of America; one who demands all evidence of the Confederate States of America be expunged from history forever. Variations: Confederaphobia, Confederaphobic. (I sent this to Fred Reed - fredoneverything.com)

What the C0nfederate Battle Flag really means today is: "I don't like the socialist/welfare state/communist BS lies that are currently being brainwashed into us in this country today. Reason: "You may have been successfully brainwashed, but I have not. Kiss my A--, Washington".

Today, I live in the South. You would not believe what is going on down here - the massive display nearly everywhere of Confederate Battle flags flying. I am amazed - and somewhat amused - even though I am not flying one myself, because I have some *****-American friends I do not wish to take the slightest chance of offending, nor shock if they drive up to my house.

I am not a racist. But, I damn sure am a behaviorist, (I discriminate solely on the basis of behavior).

M.D.

Last years Blue-Gray was an absolute HOOT! Free food and beer and the large crowd was in to the event in a big way. Some cheering at lost targets, lots of laughter both in the stands and on the trap line. IMO, the highlight of the 2014 Grand and I was there for each day. If you are there, DO NOT MISS IT!

It's just like everything else in this commie government. They want to control everything we do, say and believe. Big government is the liberal way. And the commie pres wants to be a dictator instead of a leader. We will never be free to do what we want and display what we want as long as the liberals are in office.

Why not fly the 'Stars and Stripes' and the 'Stars and Bars' rather than the battle flag? That way you can support both sides and not be waiving the flag that has been high-jacked by groups you probably don't endorse.

You make a good point, lots of things can be taken out of context and made into something ugly and hateful. Leo was a history buff and I also try to learn whenever I can. "Those who do not remember the past are condemned to relive it."
I fly the my American flag everyday at home, just for fun I'll bring along the flag that represented Confederate states. It was way more than a "battle" flag.
