Dave, I don't believe Bismuth is currently available for reloading unless you find someone that still has some in inventory from when it was available a number of years ago. I posted on here more than a year ago wanting to buy some and got no response.
There are a couple of substitutes available which are suppose to be ok to use in old doubles or whatever you son wants to shoot in. Unfortunately there is only a single source for each as far as I know so you pay the price or do w/o. BPI has one and if you go to their website you'll find it there. The shot looks like Federal's black cloud w/ a band around it. I just bought a bag but have not loaded any.
The other is called Nice Shot and I have loaded it and find it to be quite effective, the little I got to use it last year. (poor duck season).
Both are quite expensive w/ Nice Shot being a little higher, I believe.

Jeff- I checked the website and find a manual for loading Bismuth but didn't find any Bismuth shot. Do you know they have the shot or were you just guessing?

I know that Bismuth is safe to use in an older gun but what I don't know is the alternative non toxic shot. What is Federal Black Cloud; what is tungsten matrix; which are safe for an old Full Choke barrel ??

Black cloud is steel shot with a ridge around the middle.

tungsten matrix is shot that is tungsten and a plastic sintered together.

I dont think either are available to reloaders.

There is a guy on shotgun world that makes and sells bismuth shot.

I believe he is using a littleton shotmaker with some minor modifications. He makes 4's, 5's, 6's, and 7.5's.

Copper,
I think I have a 25 lb bottle of it out in the lab. We got some a few years ago to expierement with. If I still got it, it's for sale. Don't know what the size is but seem to remember it being 6's. Also don't know what it is worth. Del
