I have several Beretta Al2 and A301's. With all, the pin that holds the trigger shoe in its housing falls out easily when the trigger housing is out of the gun and the trigger is not cocked. Even the newer ones. Obviously the pin is too small for the hole in the housing from the factory. This is not the pin that holds the trigger housing in the receiver. What is your solution?

The pin is held in by the tension on the trigger when it it cocked. Just leave it cocked and you will not have a problem. They all do that and it is about a 7 dollar part. Keep it cocked or you be replacing pins a lot.

Oh yea. It is not the trigger shoe but the trigger itself that the pin goes through

Would a roll pin work for you. Had a pin in my Lujtic trigger that would do the same thing. Used a roll pin .

no no roll pin. It is a special shouldered pin of the proper length to hold in place when the trigger group is in the gun. The pin is about 8 dollars or so
