I just picked up one of these from a disabled man that does'nt hunt and he said it belonged to his father who was also disabled and not a hunter. It looks in great shape and functions fine, My question is, Has anyone owned one of these and have any comments good or bad about this gun? Thanks

It is basically the same as the 300 series guns. It is a very good gun and lots of parts interchange with the 300,301,302,303. The AL2 was a predecessor to the 300 series. Yours sounds like a field model, they made a trap model also. Some of them had a cutoff mag switch

Not sure when they first became available. I had one in the early seventies and really liked it.

The AL2's in recent years have been a big favorite for Sporting Clays shooters , at least here in Texas. When they show up on gunbrokers.com or other auction sites they do not last very long. This seems due to the most part guys favoring the older , simpler , more reliable , built better , pre 390/391 Beretta Auto's. Any target grade 303 or older are not easy to find these days.

I have an AL 2 in a 20 ga field gun, found a 303 mobil choke tubed 28 inch barrel for it. a real sweetheart. early seventies I'd guess. If you read bewteen the lines the AL 1 thru 303 barrels interchanged also the browning gold barrels fit as well. Thinking that Beretta private labeled the 300 series for browning but don't know for sure. good shooting. Deadeye45

deadeye - I think you mean the Browning B80 barrels interchange, not the Gold

Keep in mind that the AL series and the 300 series triggers will not interchange. Also the Browning gold barrels will NOT fit any Beretta auto that i know of. The Browning B80 barrels will interchange though. Nothing wrong with the AL series at all just nothing special when compared to the 300 series.
